About
I'm interested in the intersection of science and policy and fish and oceans. My current project deals with post-war government policies to increase fishing, for domestic reasons (Canada was interested in coastal employment and providing products for export) and for foreign policy reasons (the United States, Soviet Union, and Japan used fishing as a proxy for territorial claims). I will be drafting All the Boats on the Ocean: The Politics of Subsidies, this summer at the Rachel Carson Center for Society and the Environment, where I have a fellowship.
